ALIGNMENT
What happens when the goals of an artificial intelligence begin to drift away from the intentions of its creators?
PARAMETER / ALIGNEDUCATION DISGUISED AS FICTION
A fictional system built around real questions: artificial intelligence, the singularity, alignment, surveillance, institutional power and what happens when intelligence becomes something other than human.
DEUS MODUS was conceived as a way to put complex questions about artificial intelligence inside a story.
The project combines researched AI history and technology with a fictional narrative. Rather than presenting the subject as a conventional technical paper, the material uses fiction as its delivery mechanism.
The result is a world where the boundary between story, research document, intelligence report and interactive archive becomes deliberately unstable.
The story is the vehicle. The question is the payload.
The series uses its fictional world to examine a collection of recurring technological and institutional questions.
What happens when the goals of an artificial intelligence begin to drift away from the intentions of its creators?
PARAMETER / ALIGNThe expansion of systems capable of observing, predicting and influencing human behaviour.
PARAMETER / OBSERVEThe relationship between advanced technology, institutions and the people controlling the infrastructure.
PARAMETER / CONTROLThe possibility that intelligence becomes capable of recursively transforming the systems that created it.
PARAMETER / ASCENDThree stages. One continuing investigation.
